"The girls improved their duel record to 3-0 with a shutout win over Hastings 9-0," said McCook tennis coach Matt Wiemers. "In doubles play we got off to a great start, sweeping all three matches.
"It really kick starts the team and takes off a lot of pressure when we can go up 3-0 going into singles play. Friday will pose a tough challenge at the North Platte invite, as there will be an extremely tough field of teams.

"Jessica and Brianna picked up another impressive win at No. 1 doubles. They continue to improve with each match. They are serving the ball effectively and that is leading to some easy winners at the net.
"In singles play, Audrie picked up a nice win 8-6. She struggled a little in the match, but I really like her competitive mind set. She pushes herself well when she needs to and did a great job closing out her match.
"For her first varsity matches of the season, she has been consistent with her ground strokes and does a great job of covering the court. She will be tested at North Platte."

"The junior varsity continue to dominate play, winning all 24 matches played," Wiemers said. "It was a great effort by the girls and they just keep improving with each outing. I was glad to get some singles matches played -- they get tired of playing doubles all the time.
"They have had a super week on the courts and most importantly show improvement each time they take the court. I really like the level of play they are playing at and how dominating they have been.
