Southeast CC Storm slips by MCC Indians
BEATRICE -- The McCook Community College men's basketball team got clipped by the Southeast-Beatrice Storm 64-63 Saturday at Beatrice.
Ronnell Grant led MCC with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Trey Mosby added 13 points and Javoun Martin 11. Martin hit three 3-pointers.
Alozo Louis scored 5, Drew Diediker 4, Marcus Landry 4, Keenan Gaskin 4, DeShawn Howard 2 and Ray Robinson 1.
The Indians were outrebounded 50-40. Howard pulled down 5 boards. Louis and Grant each had 2 assists. Howard blocked 3 shots. Robinson had 3 steals.
The Indians made 22-of-63 field goals, including 5-of-14 3-pointers, and 14-of-23 free throws.
Aaron Russell paced the Storm with 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Tywain Hill added 11 points. Schuylor Pugh had 6 points, 13 rebounds and 7 blocked shots. Goldeng Deng had 9 points and Kelvin Crandell 7.
Christian Salinas had 5 assists. David Schwartz and Russell each had 2 steals.
Southeast made 29-of-66 field goals, including 3-of-9 3-pointers, and 3-of-12 free throws. Russell hit a pair of treys.
The MCC Indians dropped to 8-10.
The MCC men and women will play at North Platte Community College at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Indian squads will host Eastern Wyoming and Southeast Jan. 24. Both doubleheaders start at 5 p.m.
The MCC men will host Central Community College-Columbus at 2 p.m. Jan. 30.
