NAMPA, Idaho -- Lettie Belle Scheidt, age 89, a resident at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation in Nampa, Idaho, passed away Dec. 31, 2008, following a long-term illness.

Lettie was born in Haigler, Neb., on Aug. 24, 1919, the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Maude D. White who both passed away in March 1977, one month prior to their 65th wedding anniversary.

Lettie and Carl Lee Thompson were married Aug. 7, 1937, in Wray, Colo. They initially moved to Fairplay, Colo., and settled in Max, Neb., in 1940, where Lettie lived for nearly 40 years. Carl passed away April 22, 1973.

On April 15, 1980, Lettie married Jack Scheidt of McCook where they resided until his death in 1992. Following Mr. Scheidt's death, Lettie moved to Lafayette, Colo., to be closer to her family and later to Boise, Idaho, to reside with her youngest son.

In 2005, she moved to an assisted living facility in Kuna, Idaho, and in 2007, relocated to the nursing home in Nampa.

During her early years in Max, Lettie was a devoted mother to six sons and was later able to enjoy her work as a nursing assistant at the Benkelman hospital, an occupation she continued in McCook. She and her husband, Jack, a retired postal carrier, worked part-time for the McCook Daily Gazette. Lettie had a great sense of humor, a zest for life and was always ready for the next adventure.

Survivors include a brother, Zadis N. White, and his wife, Bonnie of Loveland, Colo.; a sister, Cleo E. Palmer, who resides in Pueblo, Colo.; five sons, Larry E. of Erie, Colo., C. Dean and wife, Shirley of LaGrange, Ga., Stanley D. of Fort Worth, Texas, Harold L. of Austin, Colo., and Bobby L. and wife, Paula of Boise, Idaho; and a daughter-in-law, Salle E. Thompson of Hotchkiss, Colo., wife of Lettie's oldest son William Raymond who passed away Jan. 1, 2009, the day following Lettie's death.

She is further survived by 14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Others preceding Lettie in death include three brothers, Carson M. White, Roland L. White and Dewey E. White, a sister, Vanetta L. Trembly and a daughter-in-law, Judith Rae Thompson, wife of son, Larry E. Thompson.

A memorial service and luncheon honoring the life of Lettie Belle Scheidt will be Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Longmont Church of the Nazarene located at 2111 Mountain View Avenue in Longmont, Colo., -- telephone 303.776.7066. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. The Rev. Vicki Morgan will officiate. Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont, Colo.
