Robert Eugene Gaede

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Robert Eugene Gaede, 76, died Sunday (Jan. 11, 2009) at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
He was born Sept. 23,1932, in Hoxie, Kan., to Chris and Amanda (Brandhorst) Gaede. He grew up in Hoxie and attended Pamell and Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and Concordia High School. He attended college in Seward.
On July 25, 1954, he married Shirley Unger at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Oberlin. They lived in San Antonio, where he was a teacher, principal, coach, real estate inspector and church youth director.
He was a member of the King of Kings Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Edward Karnes.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of San Antonio; daughters, Cheryl Handy and husband, Steve of Austin, Texas and Rhonda Gaede and Glen Long of Madison, Ala.; brothers, Carl Gaede and wife, Arleda of Hoxie and Richard Gaede and wife, JoAnn of Pasadena, Texas; sister, Phyils Karnes of Hoxie; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Hoxie. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-6:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Saturday from 8-9 a.m., until time of service at the church.
In leiu of flowers memorials may be given to King of Kings Lutheran Church for hand bells or Lutheran World Relief.
