Wauneta-Palisade teams win Brady Holiday Tourney titles
BRADY -- The Wauneta-Palisade girls basketball team captured the championship at the Brady Holiday Tournament with a 2-0 record.
The Broncos defeated Paxton 48-39 Monday night and Brady 50-31 Tuesday night.
Tori Adams led the Broncos against Paxton with 12 points. Tia Simpson and Blair Dixon each scored 10.
Bethany Riener paced the Broncos against Brady with 12 points. Dixon scored 11 and Simpson 10.
Megan Pfeifer led Brady with 8 points.
The Wauneta-Palisade boys clipped Anselmo-Merna 54-51 to win the Brady boys title.
Drew Harris finished with 19 points to lead Wauneta-Palisade. T.J. Ellicott added 14 and Chris Bartles scored 13.
Andrew Christen led the Coyotes with 11 points.
David Saighman, Cord Sommer and Waylon Christen each added 10 points.

Tournament
ARAPAHOE -- Arapahoe's boys won their own tournament Tuesday night.
The Warriors defeated Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. Pleasanton finished third taking down Hitchcock County.
Dalton Hyke, Ivan Simic and Dillon Breinig were named subway all tourney for Arapahoe during the tournament.
Michele Borden was named to the girls all-tourney for Arapahoe and Laramey Lewis and Ashley Garner were honored from Hitchcock County.
Ivan Simic was the leading score for Arapahoe in the championship game. Simic put in 22 points and had 13 rebounds and 2 steals.
Dalton Hyke added in 16 points and had 3 assists and 2 steals and TJ Eichenberger followed with 11 points.
Dillon Breinig had 11 rebounds and 8 assists and Garth Walbridge had 6.
Zach Cruz totaled 32 points for Hitchcock County's boys against Pleasanton. Clive Brown added in 13 points.
The Falcons were 10 and 13 in free throws.
Cruz also led the Falcons against Arapahoe in the first round on Monday. Cruz had 13 points and both Cale Brown and Sensenig had 10.
"We played very well against a very good Pleasanton team," said Falcons coach Mike Tines. "Our offense is improving as well as our decision making.
"It will be fun participating in the Cambridge tournament on Monday and Tuesday."
Pleasanton won the girls tournament division after defeating Hitchcock County. Arapahoe finished third taking out SEM.
Ashley Garner took top scoring honors putting in 19 points for the Falcons in the final game.
Laramey Lewis followed up with 10 points and had 2 three-point shots and was 2 for 4 in free throws.
Bertrand Tournament
BERTRAND -- Southern Valley's girls won the Bertrand tournament, while the boys were second.
The Eagles took down the Franklin girls in the final game. Jessica Murdoch posted 19 points for the Eagle girls win.
Murdoch also had 6 two-point shots and was 4 for 6 in free throws.
Cassie Brooks added in 17 points and had 8 two-pointers.
Paige Quinn followed with 12 points and had 3 three-point shots.
Quinn was also 3 for 3 in free throws.
Michael Hoxmeier led the Eagle boys. Hoxmeier had 15 points and 5 three-point shots.
Richard McDonald followed with 8 points and was 4 for 4 in free throws.
Drew Witte was 2 for 2 in free throws and both Jerome Becker and McDonald had 2 two-point shots.
Alliance Tournament
ALLIANCE -- Chase County's girls and boys ended the Alliance tournament Tuesday night.
The Longhorns finished second in the event falling to Alliance 50-41.
The girls lost to Gordon/Rushville in the consolation round 60-47.
Alliance defeated Bridgeport in the girls championship 33-26.
Gordon/Rushville's boys were third in the consolation round taking out Bridgeport 55-50.
Perkins County Tournament
GRANT -- Southwest's girls and boys took fourth in the Perkins County tournament.
The Roughrider girls came up short to Maxwell 53-51 in the consolation round and the boys also fell to Maxwell 64-35.
Perkins County's girls won their own championship over Gering 69-55.
The Plainsmen lost in the boys game 35-34 to Gering.
