Hastings College men fall in OT to Dana Vikings
HASTINGS -- The Hastings College men's basketball team fell in a thriller 77-76 to Dana College Wednesday night in Hastings at the Lynn Farrell Arena.
The Broncos took a 35-27 lead into the locker room only to see the Vikings shoot 60 percent from the floor in the second half and scored 50 points.
Hastings would hit a 3-pointer by Derek Fletcher with 3.3 seconds remaining as the Broncos would close the gap to one point but were unable to get the go-ahead basket.
Hastings has only lost their last seven games by a combined 20 points.
Hastings was led by Brent McNurlin with 15 points on 4 of 10 shooting.
Derek Fletcher and had 14 points as he was 4 of 9 from behind the arc.
Also in double figures for the Broncos was Waid Vontz with 12 points and Jeremiah Slough with 10.
Slough also had a team high 9 rebounds.
The Broncos are now 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
Hastings will head to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday.
The game tips off at 4 p.m.
Hastings College women cruise
to 91-61 win over Dana College
HASTINGS -- The Hastings College women's basketball team cruised to a 91-61 win over Dana College Wednesday night in Hastings at Lynn Farrell Arena.
The Broncos were led by Heather McKeon with 24 points as she was 5 for 11 from behind the arc.
Lindsay Ducey was 9 for 11 from the floor as she tallied 19 points while teammate Rachel Isherwood had 18 points including 10 for 11 from the free-throw line.
Hastings forced Dana into 21 turnovers and had 13 steals. The Broncos shot 50 percent from the floor.
The Hastings College women improved to 10-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Hastings will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to take on the University of Sioux Falls with tip off at 2 p.m.
