HAYES CENTER -- Dwight LaMonte Trusty of Hayes Center died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Heritage Estates Nursing Home in Gering. He was 63 years old.
Dwight was born on Feb. 17, 1945, in Imperial to Louis and Maxine A. (Evans) Trusty. He graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1964.
After graduation, Dwight entered the U.S. Navy on Oct. 5, 1965, and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 3, 1969.
While in the service, he met and married his wife, Mikae Nakamura on Oct. 8, 1969, in Tokyo, Japan. They lived in Tokyo for a short time and then returned to the Hayes Center community. Dwight was employed by the Hayes Center Coop Exchange where he drove a tanker truck and worked in the shop.
Dwight was a member of Hayes Center Union Congregational United Church of Christ and American Legion.
He enjoyed spending time with his wife taking long rides in the country.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mikae Trusty on Jan. 17, 2000; one brother, Lonnie Trusty; and two uncles, Herschel Evans and Erlin Evans.
Survivors include his two brothers, Michael "Bruce" Kathrens of Hayes Center and Kevin Heinrich and wife, Karla of Raymore, Mo.; four nephews, Reese, Reed and Rance Heinrich of Raymore and Jason Kathrens of Fort Collins, Colo.; numerous family members and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Union Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Jean Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
