New floor in place for NCTA Aggies

Monday, October 27, 2008

CURTIS -- NCTA Aggie athletes have a little more than the next sports season to look forward to -- they have a new home.

The Curtis Community Center will become the home of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture athletics. The new portable wood floor of the Curtis Community Center was recently installed.

This floor lies on top of a rubberized surface, which allows the floor to flex. This flexibility helps reduce joint and back injuries of athletes.

The NCTA men's and women's basketball teams, volleyball team, and intramural teams will take full-advantage of this new facility.

NCTA athletes aren't the only ones excited about the change of venue. The old gymnasium at NCTA will now be converted into a student commons area, providing a much needed "Student Union" for NCTA students.

The student union will provide a common meeting place for students, along with other features often found at larger campuses, such as a deli.

The use of the Curtis Community Center for athletics saves NCTA the cost of building either a new gym or a student union, both of which equal several million dollars.

These changes, along with the new education center NCTA is raising funding for, will give NCTA a fresh face for students of the 21st century.
