Braithwait, Johnson lead Blue Team in All-Star Game

LINCOLN -- Arapahoe's Cheryl Braithwait and Perkins County's Debi Johnson each scored 12 points to lead the Blue Team to a 91-61 victory over the Red Team Monday night in the Nebraska Coaches Association girls basketball all-star game.

The game was played at the Devaney Center on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

Braithwait will play basketball at Doane College in Crete for the 2008-09 season.

Minden's LeaAnn Jameson had 11 and Millard West's Heather Pohl 10.

Grand Island Central Catholic's Alicia Statler scored 5 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Omaha Burke's Brittany Gunn led the Red team with 16 points while Overton's Eva Benson added 12 points. Cross County's Megan Allison had three points and eight rebounds for the Red team.

The Red Team defeated the Blue Team 97-93 in the Boys All-Star Game.

Creighton recruit Antoine Young (Bellevue West) and Indiana State recruit Koang Dolouny (Omaha Bryan) scored 21 points each to lead the Red to a win over the Blue.

Waverly's Andrew Palmer, who is headed for Nebraska Wesleyan, set an all-star record with six 3-pointers and scored 18 points while Carr finished with 24.

Josias Hueser, the son of Papillion La Vista South boys basketball coach Joel Hueser, scored 3 points for the Blue Team.

Joel Hueser coached the boys basketball team at McCook High School from 1990-2003.

The NCA Volleyball All-Star Match is slated for 7 p.m. tonight at the Lincoln North Star Gym.

Cambridge's Shelby Schultz, who will play volleyball at Wayne State College, is a member of the Blue Team.

The volleyball match will be televised on NET1.

The NCA All-Star Softball Game is 5 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin Field on the Nebraska campus.

Chase County-Imperial's Tabitha Russell is a member of the Red Team.

The softball game will not be televised.
