Newspaper forced into temporary quarters in courthouse

Monday, June 9, 2008

HAYES CENTER -- The Hayes Center Times Republican and Hitchcock County News were struggling to meet deadlines today because of Internet troubles and a forced move to temporary quarters, according to Amy Frederick, co-publisher of both papers.

She expressed her gratitude to Hayes County commissioners, who allowed the Hayes Center newspaper to take up residence in the basement of the courthouse.

That was necessary because softball-sized hail took out the roof of the newspaper office Wednesday. She assured readers that contributors' photographs and history books were not lost in the storm, however.
