Paul S. Sass

OBERLIN -- Paul S. Sass, 71, died Friday (Jan. 1, 2008), at Decatur County Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1936, in Haigler to Clarence Harr and Ida Ella (Redden) Sass. He grew up in rural Haigler and attended Haigler Public Schools.
He moved to Oberlin and married Axie (Still) McVay on July 19, 1964, in Oberlin. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation.
He was a member of United Church of Oberlin and Royal Neighbors of American.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ida Sass; wife, Axie Sass on Oct. 8, 2005; two brothers, Wesley and Arthur Sass; and a sister, Margaret Kunkel.
Survivors include his son, Mike and wife, Marie McVay of Colby, Kan.; daughter, Leanna and husband, Bill Roberts of Abilene, Kan.; brother, William and wife, June Sass of Yuma, Colo.; sisters, Racheal Gallatin of Cambridge, Frieda and husband, Darryl Hosick of Stockville and Nancy and husband, Dennis Corrick of Corvillis, Ore.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today at United Church in Oberlin, with the Rev. Judy Stricker officiating. Interment followed in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the church or Cedar Living Center of Oberlin.
