Bison soph girls edge Lexington
The McCook High School sophomore girls basketball team overcame a one-point deficit at the end of the third quarter and defeated Lexington 42-37 Thursday night at the MHS gymnasium.
Lexington took a 27-26 lead at the end of the third quarter, but McCook rallied with a 16-10 run in the fourth period.
Lexington led 17-14 at halftime.
Kali Lyons and Sydney Jumps each scored 9 points to lead the Bison.
Katie West scored 7, Morgan Chitwood 6, Adrian Lambing 4, Kelsey Pohl 4, Kelsey O'Dea 2 and Becky Goodenberger 1.
McCook made 13-of-21 free throws, including 8-of-16 in the fourth quarter.
Maisie O'Meara led Lexington with 10 points. Steph Straka added 8.
"The girls played four solid quarters of basketball," said McCook sophomore girls basketball coach Lynne Kinne. "They had great defense and never quit. This was a great team win."
