North Platte-St. Pat's girls 79, Hayes Center 32
NORTH PLATTE -- Hayes Center's girls basketball team came up short against North Platte St. Pats Thursday.
"I was pleased with the second half of our game tonight," said Cardinals Coach Scott Jorgensen. "In the first half, we started out very slow, but I thought the girls came out much better in the second half.
"Defensively there are still several items that we need to address. However, North Platte St. Pat's has some great shooters and it is tough to keep them in check.
"Offensively, the girls are getting open looks, the ball is just not falling in the basket. We simply need to keep shooting them and stay aggressive on that end of the game and things will go our way."
Rebecca Gigax was the leading scorer for the Cardinals with 13 points. Gigax also had 3 rebounds.
Samantha Deaver scored 10 points and had 8 rebounds.
Shelby Tyan had 4 points and 2 assists and Liz Karre led in rebounds with 9.
McKenzie Messersmith and Tanner Richards each had 3 rebounds.
Kelsie O'Connor led St. Pats with 24 points. Teammates Megan Mroczek put in 22 and Megan Mayfield had 10.
