McCook-St. Pat's teams blast Hitchcock County

TRENTON -- The McCook St. Patrick's boys basketball teams blasted Hitchcock County Thursday, Dec. 13.

The Knights won the A game 33-19 and increased their record to 3-1. The Knights also won the B game 14-3 and are 2-2 so far this season.

Kyle Gaston was the leading scorer in the A game for St. Pat's with 12 points. Alan Goodenberger added 8.

"A big first half and a tremendous defensive effort were key to our win," said Knights Coach Rod Gaston. "Kyle Gaston got us started offensively by scoring all our first quarter points. We got into a full court game the second quarter and all the starters scored."

Cale Brown led Hitchcock County's boys with 12 points and Alex Pollmann had 5.

Josh Escher led the Knights in the B game. Escher scored 8 points and Steven Faimon, Kyle Stewart and Jonathan Spilinek all had 2.

"Another great defensive effort provided the win for the B team," said Gaston. "Escher had one of his best games ever as he led us in scoring and shot 50 percent from the field and had 3 rebounds. Colton Stone also had 3 rebounds."

Tanner Bauer was the lone scorer for Hitchcock County in the B game with 3 points. The teams played two quarters.
