BENKELMAN -- Cynthia Caroline Ellis, 94, died Saturday (Sept. 8, 2007), at Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.

She was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Fordland, Mo., to Louis and Vica (Stinnett) Burgett, and moved with her family to a farm south of Max.  She attended school in Max and was a graduate of Benkelman High School.

On May 28, 1932, she married Daniel Wesley Ellis. They farmed north of Benkelman from 1932 to 1982.  In 1975, they moved to Benkelman, but continued to farm until retirement.

She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church and the Benkelman Friends Church. She taught Sunday school for many years.  She was also President of the Rocky Mountain Friends Yearly Meeting -- Women's Missionary Society.

She was a 4-H Leader for several years, and a member of the Cowbells.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Vica Burgett; her husband, Dan; daughter, Helen; step-father, Albert Wood; great-granddaughter, Adrianne Kier; and sisters, Ethel Draper, Lois Long and Margie Burgett.

Survivors include her children, Jean Kier and husband, Jim, Robert Ellis and wife, Marian, Cynthia Baney and husband, Randy and son-in-law, Hubert Haines, all of Benkelman; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were today at the Benkelman Community Building with the Rev. Robert Sander officiating.  Interment followed services at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman.
