Bison JV football squad shuts out Lexington 14-0

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

The McCook High School junior varsity football team improved to 2-0 with a 14-0 victory over Lexington Monday night at Weiland Field.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Lexington, but Lexington received substantial rainfall Monday and the game was moved to McCook.

McCook's Deon Allen scored the first touchdown for the Bison on a 3-yard run in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, McCook's Marcus Wilson fell on a fumble in the end zone. Shane Wallen was successful on both extra point kicks.

McCook had two TDs called back because of penalties. The Bison also turned the ball over six times -- four in the first half.

"It was a very good defensive effort on the kids' part," said McCook JV coach Chad Lyons. "Offensively we played well and we had the ball in the red zone (inside the opponent's 20-yard line) several times, but turnovers stopped the drives. We need to hang on to the ball."

The Bison JV team hosts North Platte next Monday at Weiland Field.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
