COLBY, Kan. -- Mrytle Geneva (Curry) Carson, 87, died Tuesday (July 31, 2007), at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan.

She was born Jan. 27, 1920, at Brush, Colo., to Hawley E. and Flora A. (Hanna) Curry. She graduated from Rawlins County High School in 1938 and attended secretary school in Denver, Colo. She worked in San Francisco, Calif., and Washington D.C., where whe was a secretary to an advisor in the U.S. Department of War under Franklin D. Roosevelt.

On June 16, 1948, she married Larry Carson. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1996.

She lived in Colby for more than 50 years and was a legal secretary for Gerald Stover. She also farmed with her husband in Rawlins and Thomas counties.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her step-father, Walter Wallace; two brothers, Everett O. Curry and Howard E. Curry; a niece, Phyllis A. Ginn; a nephew, Howard E. "Gene" Curry; and a great-nephew, Kevin Ginn.

Survivors include two nephews, Larry Curry of Bennett, Iowa and Gary Curry of Levant, Kan.; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Atwood with the Rev. Galen Long officiating. Interment will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and before the service on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Second Century Fund.
