Reward dropped in assault

A $12,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in an assault of a rural McCook teenager nearly three years ago has been dropped, according to a family member.

The teenager was sexually assaulted in her rural McCook home on Aug. 31, 2004.

Authorities sought then-24-year-old Jose Cruz Cepeda-Lopez on charges of first degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, burglary and theft. He was described as about 6 feet tall, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
