McCook American Legion Baseball program will field two Juniors teams
Not enough players
for Seniors squad
The McCook American Legion Baseball program will field a Juniors A team and a Juniors B team this summer, but will not field a Seniors squad because of a lack of players.
There will also not be a Midgets squad.
The Juniors teams will consist of players 16 years of age and under and some of the players will play on both the A and B squads.
The A team will be coached by Lirin Yost and the B team will be coached by Chris Wallace.
McCook will also compete in the newly-formed Mid-Nebraska American Legion Baseball League West Division along with Cozad, Gothenburg, Holdrege and Lexington.
The East Division consists of Aurora, Central City, Crete, Grand Island and Hastings.
The McCook Juniors A team will host the North Platte Juniors in a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader Thursday at Jaycee Sports Complex. McCook will host a Memorial Day Tournament Sunday. Also competing are Hershey and Imperial. Game times are noon, 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
