Southern Valley, Hitchcock County, Eustis-Farnam track squads perform at Kearney competition

KEARNEY -- The Southern Valley, Hitchcock County and Eustis-Farnam track teams competed in the University of Nebraska at Kearney meet Friday and Saturday.

Southern Valley's runners competed Friday in the Class C meet. Both the Eagles boys and girls finished second in the C meet.

Hastings St. Cecilia took first in both divisions and Kearney Catholic was third on the girls side and Wood River was third in the boys.

Mallory Murdoch took home a second place medal for the Eagles in the 55 meter hurdles and teammate Alyssa Steele took second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.

The girls won the 4x400 meter relay and finished third in the 4x800.

Jacob Becker finished third in both the 55 and 200 meter dashes for Southern Valley's boys and Taylor Lueking took home a first-place medal in the 400.

The boys relay team finished fourth in the 4x400 and fifth in the 4x800.

Eustis-Farnam's girls took third and the boys finished 12th in the Class D meet Saturday.

Hitchcock County's girls ended the day in second and the boys were third.

Bertrand took first in the girls division and Elwood was first in the boys division.

Kallie Craig and Jacey Schultheiss took home two first-place medals for Eustis-Farnam's girls.

Craig won the 800 and Schultheiss won the high jump.

Derek Williams took second in the long jump for the Knights boys and the girls relay team took second in the 4x800.

David Paprocki won the 800 and Sam Matson was second in the 55-meter dash for Hitchcock County.

The boys also finished second in the 4x800 and fourth in the 4x400.

Lisa Faimon finished third in both the 55 meter hurdles and the triple jump and Ashley Garner was second in the pole vault in the Falcons.
