Jessee, Markheim wedding
WAUNETA -- Katie Jo Jessee of Benkelman and Justin Markheim of Scottsbluff were united in marriage on May 20, 2006. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Keith Wellman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Wauneta.
The bride is the daughter of Betty Jessee of Benkelman and the late Gerald Jessee. The bridegroom is the son of Kodie and Rick Markheim of Gering.
Grandparents of the couple are Bonnie Hager of Imperial, the late Lloyd 'Shorty' Hager, the late Calvin and Eula Jessee, Wilbur and Ruth Markheim of Scottsbluff, and the late Melba and Harold Keller.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and wore a diamond white, Maggie Sottero chiffon gown. The Grecian-style gown featured a corset-laced back and rhinestone accents at the shoulder and the waist which flowed to the hemline. She carried a self-designed bouquet of long-stemmed calla lilies.
The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with a coordinating mignonette green vest.
Julie Jessee of Benkelman, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Melissa Cochran of Imperial, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Brandon Nichols of Hays, Kan., served the bride as a friend of honor.
Brian Markheim of Scottsbluff, brother of the bridegroom, served as man of honor. Serving as friends of honor for the bridegroom were Dan Long and Adam Papiemick, both of Lincoln.
Paxton Niarkheim, the bridegroom's nephew, was the ring bearer with Bonnie and Cody Cochran, the bride's niece and nephew, as acolytes. Ushers were Tony Cochran, brother-in-law of the bride and Kevin Hickox the bridegroom's uncle.
Attending the guestbook was Detta Hickox, aunt of the bridegroom. Annie and Adrianne Pursley served as gift attendants and greeters.
The organist was Deb Nordhausen.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds with family members and attendants enjoyed horse-drawn carriage rides though the Village of Wauneta.
Guests celebrated with the couple at the American Legion Hall. Host couples were Doran and Dorothy Jessee, the bride's uncle and aunt, and George and Paula Lunniess, the bridegroom's godparents, of Scottsbluff.
The buffet was attended by Lloyd and Karen Christner, Harold and Jan Nordhausen, Judi Nordhausen, and Dennis and Donna Gockley, all of Wauneta.
A two-layer cake featuring calla lillies and the couple's monogram was created by Judi Nordhausen of Wauneta.
A dance concluded the night's festivities. The wedding and reception were video recorded by Rudy and Judy Evers of Wauneta.
A June 10, 2006, reception was at St. John's Church Fellowship Hall in Scottsbluff. Decorations in the couple's chosen colors were displayed by the bridegroom's mother and aunt. Paula Lunniess created a two-tiered cake adorned with the couple's photograph and calla lillies.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Dundy County High School and a 2005 graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with a degree in Landscape and Nursery Management. She is employed by First National Bank of Kimball and is working on her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Chadron State College.
The bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Morrill High School and a 2004 graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with a degree in Sports Turf Management. He is the Assistant Superintendent at Four Winds Golf Course in Kimball.
The couple is making their home at 705 South Adams, Kimball, NE 69145.
