Hilda B. McGee

OBERLIN -- Hilda B. McGee, 85, died Monday (Jan. 15, 2007) at Decatur County Good Samaritan Center.

She was born June 12, 1921, near Clayton in Norton County, Kan., to Franklin and Gernia (Mitchen) Madden. She grew up on a farm in rural Clayton and attended Mount Sunshine County Schools. She graduated from Lenora High School.

She married Bunnie Tyrrell. He died in 1965. On June 3, 1967, she married David McGee in Ellis, Kan. They lived in Norton, moving to Oberlin in 1972. They owned McGee Furniture and Floor Covering.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bunnie, parents and sister, Letha Rupp.

Survivors include her husband, David McGee of Oberlin; two sons, James Tyrrell and wife, Mary and John Tyrrell, all of Cameron, Mo.; one step-son, Mike McGee and wife, Sharon of Houston, Texas; two step-daughters, Kathlyn Thonoff of Salida, Colo., and Patricia Horning of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Della Connell of Norton, Kan., and Vera Turner of Lexington; one grandchild; seven step-granchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at United Church in Oberlin. Interment will follow in the Lenora Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3-6 p.m., at the funeral home and Friday from 9 a.m., until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be given to Decatur County Good Samaritan Center Van fund or Decatur County Hospital Building fund.
