Claire Norine Suvara

WICHITA, Kan. -- Claire Norine Suvara, 84, died Wednesday (Sept. 27, 2006) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

She was born March 23, 1922, in rural Oberlin to William Henry and Estle Grace (Beam) Gunthert. She attended Oberlin Elementary and Decatur Community High School, graduating in 1940.

On Jan. 5, 1946, she married Joe Suvara in Oberlin. They lived in Decatur County, Chicago, Ill., McCook, Wichita and Oberlin, before returing back to Wichita, where she worked for Boeing Airplane Company.

She was a member of the Hour of Power Eagles Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and two brothers, Walter and Dale Gunthert.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Geraldine Gunthert of Omaha.

Services will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will follow in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Oberlin United Methodist Church.
