McCook Seniors fall to Holdrege

The McCook National Bank Seniors American Legion baseball team dropped a 12-9 decision to Holdrege Tuesday night at Jaycees Sports Complex.
Holdrege scored two runs in the top of the first inning, three in the third, one in the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the sixth on seven hits and eight McCook errors.
McCook scored two runs in the bottom of the second, two in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the seventh on 10 hits and three Holdrege errors.
Brad Potthoff started on the mound for the MNB Seniors, who dropped to 10-7 this summer. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowed 11 runs on five hits, walked three and struck out two.
Alex Sughroue pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed one run on one hit, walked two and struck out none.
Brandon Kotschwar belted a home run to highlight the Seniors' offense. He added a single and scored three runs.
Brett Burton went 2-for-5 with a double and a single. He drove in two runs, scored one and stole a base. Potthoff went 2-for-3 with a home run, scored two runs, drove in three and stole two bases.
Evan Koetter singled and stole three bases. Ryan Eder singled in a run, scored one and stole a base. Michael Sinclair went 0-for-3 and walked. Sughroue went 1-for-3 and scored one run.
Tom Larson singled. Lance Korte walked and scored one run.
Holdrege's Adam Richter belted a three-run homer.
John Rindler had two hits. Creighton Hinze, John Goodwin, Rindler and Alex Jones each scored two runs.
MNB will play an 8 p.m. game at Lexington Thursday as part of the doubleheader with the First Central Bank Juniors, who will play Lexington at 5:30 p.m.
MNB plays at Chadron Saturday. Time is to be announced.
Hayes Center
beats Southwest
In a game that preceded the MNB-Holdrege contest, Hayes Center defeated Southwest 8-5.
Hayes Center led 8-1, but Southwest rallied in the last two innings.
Hayes Center has a 5-0 record.
MNB Night
The games capped MNB Night at the complex. Church League and YMCA softball games were played.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and beverages were served.
