John Mullen Pro-Am golf tournament tees off this weekend (revised pairings)

Thursday, June 1, 2006

The 18th annual John Mullen Pro-Am, hosted by Community Hospital Foundation, is Friday through Sunday at McCook's Heritage Hills Golf Course.

Three past champions will return for this year's tournament.

They are Steve Gotsche, Great Bend, Kan., 1997-1998; Steve Zywiec, Lincoln, 2000; and Jeff Klein, Scottsbluff, 2005.

As per tradition, the tournament gets underway Friday with the professionals-only Horse Race at 4 p.m. A reception is slated for 7 p.m.

On Saturday, registration is at 7:30 a.m. The tournament tees off with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A banquet and social hour begins at 5:30 p.m.

The second round of the tournament begins at 9 a.m. Sunday with a shotgun start.

The tournament honors the late John Mullen, the son of Dr. Bernie and Nona Mulle, McCook.

John Mullen worked as an assistant pro in Denver, Southern Californmia and Heritage Hills.

John Mullen died of cancer in 1986 at the age of 23.

Proceeds from the tournament go to the Community Hospital Health Foundation to help construct a patient-centered technologically-advanced rehabilitation center.

The annual event promotes Community Hospital and Southwest Nebraska.
