We must do what we can
Dear Editor,
I am originally from Bartley and I joined the Marines and have obtained the MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) of 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator.
I got my first duty station with the 3rd Marine Division 4th Marine Regiment in Okinawa, Japan.
After being here for a couple of months now I have gotten to see a lot of the little towns and villages around the base, and each town I have noticed the same thing and that is the towns are dirty and there is trash everywhere and there is a smell that is almost unbearable at times.
What I have realized is that these people live very horrible lives, They have to work and live with this everyday. I guess what I am trying to get at is there was a lot of things back home that I took advantage of.
For example, clean restaurants to eat at and clean bathroom facilities -- the list could go on forever.
The point I am getting at is, even though we may not like our jobs or the house we are living in, there are people in other places who would do anything to live in America and with President Bush and his immigration act.
I just don't think it is right. All they are trying to do is live a better life for them and their children.
I know that if I was in their shoes I would do the same thing, and I think that most everyone else would do the same.
So if there is anything that we can do as a country, I say that we do it whatever it takes. It would be unethical to do anything else.
