McCook hosting State Fly-In June 16-18
Balloonists, formation flying and assorted vendors will be part of the 2006 Nebraska State Fly-in at McCook Regional Airport June 16th-18th.
Activities will begin Friday night at 7:45 p.m with Diane Bartels from the Nebraska Aviation Council making a Sharpie presentation.
On Saturday, the line up of events start with a breakfast provided by the Kiwanis at 7 a.m. for $5 per plate for the public and free to pilots who fly in.
Following shortly after will be a balloon launch with an estimated 12 balloonists.
Opening Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m., with the Color Guard honoring veterans.
During the course of the day visitors can view military and civilian planes and visit food vendors and other various booths.
An air show beginning at 11 a.m. will feature aerobatic pilot Steve Falon and formation flying by the Colorado Yak Pak.
Pilot Doug Cairns will present a program on diabetes at 2 p.m., sponsored by the McCook Community Hospital Foundation.
An awards ceremony at 4 p.m., will honor pilots that traveled the most miles, classic antique, best classic and best home built aircraft.
Sunday will wrap things up with another balloon launch at 7-10 a.m., along with breakfast provided by the Kiwanis for $5 per plate for the public and free to pilots who fly in.
