Cambridge boys roll to Class D1-11 title

The Trojans, ranked sixth in Class D-1, advanced to the Class D1-6 district finals Tuesday against Wauneta-Palisade, which rallied to defeat Leyton 78-72 in the Class D1-12 finals.

Cambridge's boys get one step closer to State after downing Eustis-Farnam in the D1-11 sub-district finals Thursday.

The Trojans blasted the Knights 74-36.

Cambridge will play Wauneta-Palisade in the McCook gym on Tuesday.

Waid Vontz pured in 37 points to lead the Trojans' win, including 7 3-point shots. Bo Cribelli followed with 11 points and 3 3-pointers and Brett Palmer had 8 points.

Jeff Loshonkohl led the Knights with 11 points. Todd Warren followed with 9 points.

CREEK VALLEY -- Wauneta-Palisade pushed by Leyton Thursday in the D1-12 boys subdistrict.

The Broncos took the win 78-72 and travel to McCook on Tuesday to take on Cambridge in the D1-6 district finals.

Trevor Ridlen tallied 24 points for the Broncos. Andrew Isom posted 22 points and Russell Ridlen had 18.

Lucas Schumacher led Leyton with 16 points. Cody Childers followed with 15 points. Kyle Foster had 12 points and Jake Childers had 11.

Axtell 52,

Arapahoe 39

HOLDREGE -- Arapahoe battled it out with Axtell for the D1-9 sub-district titler Thursday in Holdrege.

Axtell stays undefeated after overthrowing the Warriors 52-39. The Warriors round out the season at 23-2.

Adam Borden totaled 19 points for Arapahoe. Blake Maaske followed with 9 points and Tony Braithwait had 6.

LEXINGTON -- Sutherland clipped North Platte St. Pats 46-41 in ivertime Thursday in the C2-11 boys sub-district finals in Lexington.
