MCC spikers honored
A pair of Hayes Center graduates playing volleyball this fall at McCook Community College has been named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference all conference team.
Sophomore Kayla Laird and freshman Mary Gohl were named to the team, according to MCC coach Jenni McConville.
Kayla is a setter who led the team and the region with a 98.4 percent success rate on serves, connecting on 508 of 516 serves.
Her 38 aces were second on the team. For the season she had 302 digs (2.46 per game) and led the Indians with 832 set assists (6.76 per game.
In addition, Laird was selected to the all Region IX tam and the Region IX south all-tournament team.
Gohl is a middle hitter and connected on 90.1 percent of her 406 serves and led the team with 42 aces.
Her 287 kills (2.33 per game) led the team and her .136 hitting efficiency -- 752 out of 915 -- was second on the team. In addition she had 323 digs and 78 ace blocks.
