CAMBRIDGE -- John C. Brown, 98, died Thursday (Oct. 27, 2005) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.

He was born in Cambridge on Jan. 11, 1907, to Joseph and Clara (Karash) Brown.

He married Ruth O'Brien on June 29, 1933, in Cambridge. She preceded him in death in December 1991. He owned a farm North of Cambridge in Red Willow County and moved to Cambridge in 1990.

He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 7734, Cambridge Rural Fire Board, the Election Board of Red Willow County, Cambridge Locker Board, Cambridge Co-op Board, School Board, American Hereford Association, American, Nebraska and the Southwest Polled Hereford Associations.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Richard; four brothers, Harold, Lawrence, Charles and Joseph; and infant sister, Frances.

Survivors include one brothers, Albert and wife, Florence of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Phylis Brown of Cambridge; and four grandchildren.

Rosary will be Sunday, 7 p.m., at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 10 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Robert Barnhill officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge is in charge of arrangements.
