Naomi Elsa Nelson

HAYES CENTER -- Naomi Elsa Nelson, 92, died Friday (Aug. 19, 2005) at the Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
She was born March 11, 1913, to William Frederick and Emilie (Schultz) Wach in Hayes County. She graduated from Hamlet High School in 1931. She attended Hastings College and received her lifetime teaching certificate from Kearney Teachers College.
She married Leonard F. Nelson on May 1, 1941, in Curtis. The couple made their home five miles west of Hayes Center.
She was a school teacher, a 4-H leader and a Sunday school and bible school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 1985; a sister, Coletta Hahn; and a brother, Harold Wach.
Survivors include children and spouses, Judith and Gary Raymond of St. James, Mo., Linda and Rodney Duffey of Minden and Craig and Elaine Nelson of Hayes Center; two sisters, Helena Hubbard of Wauneta and Dorean and husband, A.H. "Bud" Carey of Clearfield, Utah; two brothers, Vernon Wach and wife, Granta of Hayes Center and Ralph Wach of Albany, Ore.; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a..m. CDT, at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with the Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will follow at the Hayes Center Cemetery.
Visitation is today, until 7 p.m. CDT, at Liewer Funeral Home of Wauneta.
