Donald E. Roe

OBERLIN -- Donald E. Roe, 77, died Thursday (July 21, 2005), at the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born March 24, 1928, to Earl and Elsie (Hesseltine) Roe, at Cedar Bluffs, Kan. He was raised in Decatur County and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1946.
On May 18, 1948, he married Ardis Duckworth in Danbury. They lived on a farm in the Beaver Township until 1967 when they moved to Oberlin, moving to their current residence east of Oberlin in 1976.
He was a farmer, businessman, school bus driver and served as a volunteer fireman for more than 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Eunice Roe; and two nephews, Greg Roe and Brian Lindberg.
Survivors include one son, Larry and wife, Peggy Roe of Oberlin; three daughters, Jolene and husband, Jerry Fortin of Oberlin, Carol and husband, Jerry Manning of Derby, Kan., and Donna and husband, Robert Spresser of Atwood; one brother, Delbert Roe of North Platte; four sisters, Doris and husband, Claude Runyan of Greeley, Colo., Della Roe of Long Beach, Calif., Doreen and husband, Keith Lindberg of Topeka, Kan., and Deanna and husband, Steve O'Toole of Olathe, Kan; a sister-in-law, Jean and husband, Robert Chandler of Flora Vista, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Bill Duncan officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, 1-8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials are requested to the Decatur County Good Samaritan Center.
