KEARNEY -- The McCook Rebels 16 and under girls fastpitch softball team placed second at the Kearney Klassic Tournament last weekend.
The next games for the Rebels will be in Hastings Friday through Sunday.

Kearney DMilaco 0
The Rebels shut out Kearney Dmilaco in five innings.
Cody Korus, Hailee Koetter, Marissa Wallace, Tori Davis and Sarah Craw each had two hits. Jessie Einspahr had one hit.
Marissa Wallace pitched giving up 3 hits and striking out 4.

Holdrege Heat 0
The Rebels had their second shutout for the day against the Holdrege Heat.
Cody Korus had a triple. Jessie Einspahr had a double. Ashley Carfield, Stephanie Douglas, Hailee Koetter and Erica Kinne each had singles.
Stephanie Douglas pitched the 6 innings, giving up 2 hits, walking 2 and striking out 13.

Sunday's first game was a rematch with Dmilaco.
Marissa Wallace had a double and a single. Cody Korus had two singles.

In a semifinal game the Rebels face the Kearney Khaos.
Cody Korus, Jessie Einspahr, Hailee Koetter and Courtney Wudtke each singled.
Stephanie Douglas pitched six innings, giving up 2 hits, striking out nine, and walking none.

In the champonship game, the Rebels faced the Norfolk Golden Girls Gold.
Marissa Wallace had two hits. Cody Korus, Stephanie Douglas and Sarah Leitner each had a single.
Marissa Wallace and Stephanie Douglas shared the pitching duties, giving up 11 hits, walking 3 and striking out 8.

Championships
to conclude
The Western Nebraska APA Pool Leagues Team Championships will wrap up this weekend with the third and final tournament to be held at Charley's in McCook.
Thirty teams and 240 players will be in town for the event. The public, age 21 and older is welcome to attend.
Play will start Friday morning and will feature the $15,000 8-Ball Open Team Championships, with the top three teams advancing to the APA National Championships in Las Vegas which includes paid entry fee, travel allowance and paid lodging at the Riviera Hotel and Casino, site of the APA National Championships.
The three runnerup teams will receive $500 each.
On site cue repair and refinishing will be provided by Kelly Doyle of KRD Cues in McCook, food service will be provided by Subway of McCook, and billiard supplies will be provided by Frank and Sandy Seybold of Frank's in Trenton.
Officials for the event are Robert Zodrow of McCook and Ed Powers of Trenton. Tournament Directors are Joe and Carmen Bond of McCook.
