More liars
Dear Editor,
I want to thank Mike for his eye-opening article (Whatever happened to the truth?) on the lies this administration has told, and also the eloquent responses the paper received from the article.
So I thought it would be interesting to quote specific instances where the administration or politician was lying and found the following.
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
"He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force if necessary to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
To say the least I was shocked to find these quotes, which are all recorded and are part of the public record. How could are beloved politicians lie to us like that"
I would like to encourage each and every citizen to write these politicians and express your outrage to their lies and distortions.
The politicians responsible for the above quotes are:
President Clinton, Feb 4, 1998 (CNN News)
Sen. Hillary Clinton, Oct 10, 2002 (Senate speech)
Sen. John F. Kerry, Oct 9, 2002 (pressroom speech)
Vice President Al Gore, Sept 23, 2002 (Washington Post)
Madeline Albright, Secretary of State, Nov 10, 1999 (Washington Times)
Like Mike said "When anyone lies to you, even once, how can you ever know in the future when they're telling the truth?" Amen!
