OBERLIN -- Esther Wilson, 83, died Sunday (June 5, 2005), at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.

She was born Feb. 2, 1922, to Fred and Eva (Karst) Bauer. She was raised in Patricia, S.D., and attended Patricia Country School.

On Jan. 13, 1942, she married Loyl J. Wilson. They made their home in Oberlin until 1949 when they moved to Custer, S.D. They moved back to Oberlin in 1962. She was an Oberlin elementary school cook.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jake, Alec, Sammy, and Fred; two infant sisters; and three sisters, Margaret Keller, Mollie Combs, and Mildred Kling.

Survivors include her husband, Loyl of Oberlin; two sons, L. Jay Wilson and wife, Karen of Great Bend, Kan., and Don I. Wilson of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Dixie and husband, Dennis Nickel of Manhattan, Kan., and Donna and husband Russ Stanley of Lincoln; two brothers, Fred Bauer of Elmo, Mont., and Henry Bauer and wife, Sherri of Edgmont, S.D.; one sister, Pauline Combs of Kennwick, Wash; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were today at 1 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Decatur County Hospital.

Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin was in charge of arrangements.
