Kenneth Harold Christian, 88, died Monday (Dec. 20, 2004) at his home in McCook.

He was born Oct. 3, 1916, in Aurora, Ill., to Harold and Edna (Balfour) Christian. He graduated from Aurora East High School, in 1934.

On Aug. 3, 1940, he married Arlene E. Northrup at Aurora. To this union three sons were born.

Kenneth was employed as a roundhouse foreman for Burlington Northern, Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad until his retirement.

He played in several bands, taught music lessons, and repaired instruments for Hershberger's Music Company.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, McCook Elks Club and Masonic Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Gail and Bob Christian; and one sister, Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of McCook; thee sons, Kenneth Christian, Jr. of Junction City, Kan., Terry Christian and wife, Linda, of Caledon East Ontario, Canada and Stephen Christian of Grand Island; one sister, Vera and husband, John Hunger, of Aurora, Ill.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation is today, until 8 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. This will be the only local service.

The body will be taken to Aurora, Ill., for services. Final committal will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora.
