Tax breaks for all?
Dear Editor,
I've been doing some thinking about an amendment that would give tax breaks to groups of people or individuals who buy up historically significant buildings and refurbish them. If memory serves me right, it's amendment 1 on the ballot. If I happen to have the wrong one, please put the right one in here.
It seems to me that if these people have the money to renovate and refurbish old historical buildings, they should also be expected to have the money to pay taxes. After all, if mom and pop get stuck by the tax man for putting a new roof on their house after a storm so that it doesn't leak, why should people with money get a free ride.
As far as I'm concerned, give the break to everyone or no one. Vote NO on one.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Yost,
