Morell, Bison golfers 2nd at Ogallala tourney

OGALLALA -- McCook High School senior Katherine Morell and the Bison girls golf team both placed second at the Ogallala Invitational Monday.

The tournament was played at Westwind Country Club in Ogallala.

Morell, who has won five tournaments, placed second for the second time this fall. She posted an 81.

Ogallala's Lacey Theiler claimed first-place medalist honors with a 78.

McCook's Lesley Nelson placed eighth with a 98. Justine Hager tied for ninth with 99. Both Nelson and Hager medaled.

Minda Haas shot a 120, followed by Hannah Roschewski 148 and Kristy Osterman 152.

Scottsbluff won the team title with a 378 score, followed by McCook 398, Ogallala 412, Lexington 419, CreekValley 422, Sidney 439, Hershey 448, Gering 449 and North Platte 457.

Other individual medalists were:

Britney Pepler, Scottsbluff, 82; Erin Ondrak, Lexington, 88; Terrin Wells, Sidney, 91; Teeyl Sutton, Ogallala, 91; Roxanne Haslan, Scottsbluff, 93; Samantha Hanson, Creek Valley, 96; and Mallory Warren. Scottsbluff, 99.

The Bison golfers compete at the Holdrege Invitational at 9 a.m. next Monday.
