Elsie May Applebey

TRENTON -- Elsie May Applebey, 94, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 2004) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
She was born March 6, 1910, to Charlie Thomas and Glena Alice (Workman) Collicott. She grew up on her family's farm near Haigler. She was a graduate of Haigler High School.
On April 12, 1934, she married Lee G. Applebey in Goodland, Kan. The couple moved throughout the United States as her husband served with the Army. When he was discharged, the couple moved to Haigler and eventually settled on a farm near Laird, Colo. In the fall of 1976, she moved to Culbertson. She then moved to El Dorado Manor in Trenton in August of 2003.
She was a member of the Haigler United Methodist Church, the Beverly Ladies Aide and was an active member of the local hobby club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and her adopted son, Jennings Robinson.
Survivors include her sister, DeVeta Redfield and husband, Dwayne of Palisade; and brother, LaVoine Collicott and wife, Opal of Haigler.
Services are Thursday, 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Haigler with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Interment will be in Haigler Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday, 2-5 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman.
