Funeral services for Margaret Towle of Hobbs, N.M., were Aug. 12, 2004, at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Todd Dyess, minister of First United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Lubbock, Texas, at Resthaven Mausoleum under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home of Hobbs.
Mrs. Towle, 90, died Aug. 8, 2004, at her residence. She was born May 10, 1914, in Riverton to Andy and Nancy Peterson of Culbertson. She graduated from Trenton High School in 1932. She attended teachers college in Nebraska and taught grades 1-12 for two years before moving to Hobbs in 1938 and marrying her high school sweetheart, Kenneth L. Towle on May 27, 1938. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1988, after 50 years of marriage.
Mrs. Towle was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Hobbs Rose Club. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and she enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Holborn and husband, Mel; three grandsons, Lance Towle and wife, Ginger of Roswell, N.M., Ty Holborn and wife, Heather of Manhattan, Kan., and Chris Holborn and wife, Tracy, also of Manhattan; two great-grandsons, Parker and Pierce Holborn; and sister-in-law, Devonnabelle (Towle) Reynolds of Trenton.
Margaret will be deeply missed by all. She was a very special person.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; one sister; and two infant sons, Gordon and Jimmy Towle.
Pallbearers were Lance Towle, Ty Holborn, Chris Holborn and Mike Atwood of Carlsbad, N.M.
