KEARNEY -- Lorretta Carter, 78, died Sunday (July 4, 2004) at Northridge Retirement in Kearney.

She was born May 25, 1926, to Frank and Agnes (Reed) Breiner in Norcatur. She was raised in Norcatur and graduated from Norcatur High School.

On March 15, 1945, she married Eldon Carter in Norton. She was a Norcatur city clerk.

She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norton and HDU Sunflower Unit, Calico Girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon in 1998; brother, Reid Breiner; and grandchild, Daniel Seabolt.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Carter and wife, Lisa of Johnson City, Texas; four daughters, Carla Ogorzolko and husband, Mark of Kearney, Nelda McCumbers and husband, Larry of Alanta, Linda Seablot and husband, Carl of Benkelman; and Carol Ann Kennedy and husband, John of Colby, Kan.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Vincent Thu Laing and Deacon Stan Chapin. Interment will be in Norcatur Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Thursday, 8 a.m., until service time.

The vigil service is Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the funeral home in Oberlin.
