Ellen G. Alberts

LINCOLN -- Ellen Gladys Alberts, 88, died, of Oxford, died Saturday (May 8, 2004) at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born Jan. 16, 1916, to LeRoy and Bertha (Gose) Brown in Trenton. She attended school in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School in 1934. She received her teaching certificate in McCook and at Kearney State Teachers College. She taught school in Hitchcock and Red Willow Counties for over 25 years.
On June 23, 1945, she married Walter H. Alberts. The couple made their home in Red Willow County prior to moving to Oxford, where they resided for more than 30 years. Her husband died Sept. 23, 1999. In January of 2004, she moved to Dannebrog.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; six sisters, Margaret Fassler, Marry Kaiser, Esther Confer, Rachel Johnston, Nora Groothuis and Jennie Walker; five brothers, Hamer, Marion, James, Kenneth and George Brown.
Survivors include one son, Timothy Alberts and wife, Dianna of Dannebrog; one brother, William Brown and wife, Peggy of Trenton; one sister, Edith Burd and husband, Bud of Arvada, Colo.; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are Thursday, 11 a.m., at Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson with the Rev. George Naylor officiating.
A memorial book signing is Wednesday, 1-8 p.m., at the Mitchell-Nelson Funeral Home in Oxford.
A memorial has been established in her name.
