Donald LeRoy Magee

ATWOOD -- Donald LeRoy Magee, 70, died Monday (April 26, 2004) in Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born July 25, 1933, to LeRoy Venton and Olga (Hansen) Magee south of Maxwell. He attended grade school north of Curtis and graduated from the UNSTA High School in Curtis. He worked at the Curtis lumber yard while attending high school.
On June 23, 1963, he married Genevieve L. De Hart. He became assistant manager at Mead Lumber Co. in Broken Bow. When he moved his family to Colby, Kan., he became district lumber sales representative for the state of Kansas for Kiabab Lumber Co. out of Denver. When his health declined he moved to Atwood and worked as the manager of Coastal Mart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orval; brother-in-law, Kenneth Ruppert; nephew, Wayne Tetherow; father-in-law, Mason DeHart; and brother-in-law, Bill DeHart.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Atwood; his children, Angela Dorries and husband, James R. of Cheynee Wells, Colo., and Chad Magee of Columbia, Mo.; siblings, Leona Ruppert of McCook, Ferris Magee and wife, Helen of McCook, Leland Magee and wife, Gerry of Curtis, Bonnie Greco and husband, John of North Platte and Shirley Brunner and husband, James of Sutherland; and three grandchildren.
Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Gary Fisher officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and before service time at the church.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Rawlins County Ambulance Fund and left at the funeral home.
