Ernst F. 'Ernie' Holste

ATWOOD -- Ernst F. "Ernie" Holste, 89, died Tuesday (March 16, 2004) at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born July 16, 1914, to Henry and Sophie (Niermeier) Holste in Ludell.
On Oct. 12, 1944, he married Hilda Dunker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ludell. He was a farmer and stockman and a lifetime resident of Ludell.
He was a member of the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church of Atwood and a former member of Immanuel and Grace Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Charlotte Nietfeld, Margaret Hesterman and Amanda Nietfeld.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda of Ludell; sons, Charles D. "Chuck" Holste and wife, Lea and Roger P. Holste and wife, Betsy, all of Ludell; daughter, Peggy Jean and husband, the Rev. David Kuerschner of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Mathilda Henningsen of Atwood and Pauline Zander of Oberlin; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 2 p.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church of Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ludell.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Home in Atwood.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or to the charity of the donor's choice.
