Vernon W. Reunitz
ATWOOD -- Vernon W. Reunitz, 89, died Sunday (Oct. 26, 2003) at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born April 2, 1914, to Frederick H. and Emma Marie Dorothea (Luebring) Reunitz at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He served in the Air Corps during World War II between 1941 and 1945 and served in the Pacific Theater.
On Sept. 30, 1946, he married Joann Foster in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a lifetime resident of the Rawlins County area, other than 18 years spent in Colorado and California. During this time he worked for Lockhead Corporation and later for Sears Roebuck & Co. He also farmed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Reunitz in 1972; his brother, Herman Reunitz in 1968; and sisters, Mary Roden in 1965, Emma Reunitz in 1986 and Bertha Reunitz in 1987.
Survivors include his sons, Keith and Gordon Reunitz, both of Ludell; one daughter, Linda Dryer and husband, David of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ludell. A flag presentation will be given by the Sam Hubbard American Legion Post No. 46 of Atwood.
Visitation is today and Wednesday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Rawlins County Ambulance Fund.
