Faye Alice Laird

Faye Alice Laird, 96, of Hayes Center died Monday (October 22, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born July 12, 1905, to Rufus and Fannie Elizabeth (Paxton) Mintling in Hayes County. She attended school in Hayes County.

On Dec. 24, 1924, she married Clayton Laird at the home of Albert Schuman. She taught in the rural Hayes County Schools in 1925 and 1926. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Union Congregational Church, and the Women's Fellowship and Worthwhile Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton in 1974; and seven brothers and sisters, Leslie, Willard, Elsie, Harvey, Ferne, Ava and Ora.

Survivors include her daughter, Byrdine McCall and husband, Bob of The Woodlands, Texas; two sons, Clayton Laird and wife, Lois of The Woodlands, and Scott Laird and wife, Patty of Hayes Center; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, at 2 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Hayes Center with the Rev. Raymond Laird officiating. Interment will be at the Hayes Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m,. at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name.
