Julie Ann Buturlia

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Julie Ann Buturlia, 42, died Saturday (Nov. 3, 2001) at Overland Park.

She was born Nov. 15, 1958, at Oberlin to Johnnie and Christine (Ricketts) Richards. She was raised in Oberlin and Atwood. She graduated from Atwood High School in 1976. She was a graduate of the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.

On May 17, 1980, she married Reid Buturlia at Lawrence. They lived in Benicia, Calif., Manhattan, Kan., and Overland Park. She was an administrative assistant for the Kansas State University Foundation.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leorin Richards, and Alvin and Faye Ricketts.

Survivors include her husband, Reid Buturlia of Overland Park; her parents, Johnnie and Christine Richards of Olathe, Kan.; one son, Colin Buturlia of the home; one daughter, Morgan Buturlia of the home; three brothers, Rick Richards of Overland Park, Michael Richards of Olathe, and Dr. Dallas Richards of Hays, Kan.; and her grandmother, Edith Richards of Oberlin.

Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m., and Wednesday, 8 a.m. until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gerig's Disease) Association, the Keith Worthington Chapter, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
