Velma F. Greenlee

GOTHENBURG -- Velma F. Greenlee, 92, died Thursday (Dec. 20, 2001) at Southview Manor Care Home in Cozad.

She was born March 11, 1909, at Red Willow County to Thomas and Ida Mae (Downs) Masters.

On Oct. 1, 1925, she married Alva William Greenlee. They farmed in the McCook and North Platte areas before retiring in 1971. They moved to Gothenburg in 1978. Alva preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a member of the Ravenswood Road Club in McCook, and the Extension Club in Gothenburg.

She attended the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alva; one sister, Dorothy Egan; and two grandsons, Doug and Jeffery.

Survivors include four daughters, Nita and husband, Ken Mallack of McCook, Ida Mae Gilliland of Bend, Ore., Doris and husband, Rodney Swanson of Cozad, and Karen and husband, Marion Tatum of Gothenburg; four sons, Ralph and wife, Erma Greenlee of Hot Springs, S.D., Kenneth and wife, Leona Greenlee of North Platte, Jim and wife, Viola Greenlee of Columbia, Mo., and Truman "Tim" and wife, Lael Greenlee of Gothenburg; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Tim Travers officiating. Burial will be at the Indianola Cemetery. Visitation is today, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church of Gothenburg or to the Central Plains Hospice. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
