Lena Maudie Fruit
CURTIS -- Lena Maudie Fruit, 93, died Monday (Feb. 25, 2002) at Camellia Care Home in Aurora, Colo.
She was born April 18, 1908, to Alvin Curtis and Jessie Viola Keyes Cowman at Maywood. She attended Maywood Schools.
On Dec. 2, 1927, she married Charlie A. Fruit at North Platte. They moved to Curtis in 1961 where she was a cook at the Aggie Inn and later worked at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis before retiring in 1978.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie in 1974; two daughters, Marceal Walker and Donna Doyle; one son, Charlie; two sisters, Addie Embrey and Marvel Withers; one brother, Lester Cowman; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty and husband, Tom Remus of Aurora, Colo. and Margie Wilson of Aurora, Neb.; 21 grandchildren; 52 great- grandchildren; and 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis with Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be in the Curtis Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
