Albert H. Alberts
Albert H. Alberts, 87, died Monday (April 1, 2002) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born June 21, 1914, to Harman J. and Rika (Groothius) Alberts at Sacramento, Neb. He grew up on a farm at Culbertson and graduated from Lutheran Church School in 1928. He entered the U. S. Army on Oct. 24, 1940, where he was a Tec 5 in the Medical Department, serving during World War II.
On Dec. 10, 1944, he married Marie Herman at Culbertson and they moved to McCook. He was a mechanic at Hormel Chevrolet, retiring in 1978.
He was a life member of Bernard-Elbert V.F.W. Post 1652 and was a Past District Commander. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Andrew, Harm, John, and Walter; and three sisters, Dora Rice, Ella Rathe and Etta Haussler.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of McCook; two daughters, Joanne and husband, Lester Hein of Melbourne, Fla., and Katherine and husband, Alan Donaldson of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, William Alberts and wife, Sallie of Grand Island; one brother, Elmer Alberts and wife, Leola of Palisade; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Rev. Carl Pullmann officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Culbertson Cemetery at Culbertson.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at the Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook. The casket will not be opened at the church.
